On a Thursday after school around the neighbourhood...

Carnival at neuer Messplatz

Many times better than any carnival in Singapore, for the rides are much more thrilling and of course dangerous. Jared and I withnessed first hand how parts of this machine below actually dropped out of the main body during operation!

I tried the one above where the people seemed to be flying in all directions, it looked really thrilling from here but actually it turned out to be pretty boring.

Airwolf -this one made people puke and they gotta use a water hose to wash the seats after that!

Haunted House

Another one of the rides where they start you off horizontal and then the wheel goes up vertically.

Real ponies

Stall selling BEEER

Stall like the above selling sweets and other forms of confectionary are very common, especially common and popular is the Lebkuchen below - Gingerbread.

Du bist mein süßes Herzchen - You are my sweetie pie
Ich bin total verrückt nach Dir - I am totally mad about you
Ich denke nur noch an Dich - I still tink about you only

[Notice there are 3 ways of writing "You" in German, depending on which case - Du, Dich, Dir. One of the many nightmares of the German language]

So what happens is that people (girls usually) who receive this kinda Lebkuchen will wear them around their neck like a jewellery chain. And its something probably to be proud about walking around like that.

That German gal in green was trying to be in the limelight.

Wohnheimgrill (Hostel BBQ)

After we came back from the carnival we went to the back of our hostel where there was a Wohnheimgrill going on. Apparently this BBQ was an initiative by some of the hostel tutors in an effort to integrate Germans and international Students, but it was very obvious that most of the people there were international students.
Here's how the back view of the hostel looks, facing the canal, and across the other side is well, a small ugly industrial island further which behind is Ludwigshafen, another industrial mess. I am quite surprised to even see white swans in the canal sometimes.
Typical German Grill - Sausages
My coursemate in German language as well as my neighbour who lives directly above me from Norway.

The weather is starting to get really hot these days. Not like the weather 2 years ago in May when I arrived the first time in my life in Germany on 13 May 2006. I remembered it was 10 degrees this time then. Now the weather is becoming more like Singapore's weather.
